Its a good book but I would not expect anything new for experienced professional.

I was curious about this subject and really this book tells me it's not for me.The style of writing is very dry indeed and the English language patterns are odd for a native English speaker and the book has many English language grammatical faults. It's perfectly readable, but not a smooth read by any means. The editor that oversaw the production of the book should have done a better job.I'm a technical developer and I expected the book to be very technical. It is, but bizarrely the early part of the book discusses creating a very basic Xcode project. I would expect anyone interested in penetration testing to be beyond that stage. I don't see why I would need handholding to create a basic project, because if my skills were that poor then penetration testing is going to be beyond me.Next I read about jailbreaking my IOS device. That was enough for me. I won't be doing that, thank you.So I'm probably not the target audience. Even so the writing style is odd and the editor should really have worked on the basic English grammar. My feeling is that this book is probably full of great technical information, but I can't get past the writing style and I will not be jailbreaking my devices. It's probably a goldmine for some people, but not for me. Sorry.I should add - in fairness to the author - that if you need the information in this book, I have no idea where you would find it elsewhere.

Caveat: I was a technical reviewer of this book, but received no remuneration other than a single free copy. That said, I found the book to be technically excellent. If you need to test the security of an iOS application, I know of no more current technical text than this. You'll learn everything from the iOS security basics through manipulating the ObjectiveC runtime to trick a poorly designed app into misbehaving (with security consequences). Each chapter delves deeper and deeper into the security aspects of the insides of iOS apps, with ample screenshots and examples. This book is best read interactively, where you work hands-on through all the examples in the book as you read through it. You'll get the most out of it that way, without a doubt. If you put in that effort, though, you'll emerge with a deep understanding of iOS app security and its common pitfalls.

I have read several books, posts, blogs on IOS application security testing before landing on this book. This one I liked the most because its well placed content. Right from the Jailbreaking the device, OWASP top 10 which is essential(the 4th star for that), setting up the environment which is a critical task. A security analyst who is not so new to Mobile Pen test and at short of time to speed up the process of Mobile Pen test. This is a right book. Its fresh and to the point. No beating around the bush. As a pen tester, you want to make your life easy and need a process to be followed.I am not bothered by the grammatical errors of this book as that would stupidity to do when you reading technical stuff. There is lot of room of improvement pertaining to advanced attacks and pen testing which I will wait for from the writer, so I will hold on to last star as of now!!Cheers to the writer!

Increase in Digital business has been a boon but security concerns are on the rise as well. Number of applications available on iOS are on the rise. It is important for mobile apps developers to be well-versed with the security aspects of the applications. The field is so fast evolving that for up to date materials on the subject matter one looks up blogs and user groups to resolve queries. There is paucity of books that are up to date on the subject matter of iOS penetration testing.Swaroop has made an excellent effort to be one of the first to cover tips and tricks on iOS penetration testing covering jailbreaking, flaws in local storage, traffic analysis, side channel data leakage, binary protection, dynamic analysis and forensics to name a few.The book is not for beginners, is meant for iOS developers and testers to check for all vulnerabilities in iOS. The book is an excellent subject matter aid for this purpose.
